I watched the Cougs narrowly beat the Huskies in a room full of tense Cougar family who’ve all seen too many football seasons in Pullman to go into the game with much hope. I kind of assumed we’d win, but then I always do and always have my reckoning of doubt as we enter overtime. It brought back memories of basketball season, only with bad teams.
Here’s a sampling of what my Cougar friends/acquaintances were saying on Facebook status shortly after the victory:
Whew. Sigh of relief. One game turned the season from a total loss to almost satisfying. I was so happy to see Paul Wulff’s victory dance, even if he seemed a little out of practice after all this time. I don’t think I’ve seen him smile since he got hired. And it’s always fun to pity the poor little Huskies.
UPDATE: My whole family (all grandparents are in town) re-watched the end of the game at least three times in a row later on thanks to Tivo, including the Wulff dance. And someone already found this blog by searching “apple cup 2008 paul wulff dance.”
